EDI for consumer electronics & appliances

When unit values are high, EDI errors are expensive

Consumer electronics and appliance brands face some of the tightest EDI compliance standards in retail. A label mismatch on a pallet of televisions or a three-way match failure at Amazon or Costco carries a much steeper cost than in most other product categories.

BOLD VAN handles multi-retailer EDI compliance, ASN accuracy, and three-way match validation so your team isn't losing margin to auto-deductions on high-value shipments.

  • Fixed per-trading-partner pricing — no bill shock during Q4 or product launches.
  • We handle onboarding, mapping, and compliance testing with each retailer.
  • US-based EDI experts who know Best Buy, Amazon, and Costco compliance inside and out.

Why consumer electronics and appliance brands choose BOLD VAN

Multi-retailer EDI compliance without losing margin to auto-deductions

Three-way match, validated before it leaves your dock

Amazon, Costco, and Best Buy all compare your PO, ASN, and invoice automatically. Any discrepancy triggers an auto-deduction. We validate all three against each other before the shipment goes out.

One partner for every retailer mix

Best Buy, Amazon, Costco, Walmart, Target, B&H — each with its own vendor guide, compliance program, and chargeback structure. We manage all of them under one agreement.

Fixed pricing through product launches and Q4

Per-message VAN pricing spikes when a new product launch or holiday season drives order volume. Our flat per-trading-partner rate means volume never changes what you pay.

Fast onboarding for new retail accounts

Landing a new retail account is exciting — waiting weeks to go live is not. We get new connections up and compliant in 2–3 weeks so you can start shipping.

Three ways to work with us

Choose the right EDI setup for your brand

Whether you have an internal EDI team or need everything handled end-to-end, we have a setup that fits.

Transmission only — VAN connectivity for electronics and appliance brands
Most affordable

We manage AS2/SFTP connectivity and VAN routing to your retail trading partners. You handle internal file management while paying a flat per-partner rate instead of per-message fees.

Best for: brands with internal EDI mapping who need reliable, cost-effective data exchange with multiple retailers.

Transmission + transformation — full EDI integration
Most popular

We map EDI documents into and out of your ERP, WMS, or 3PL — and maintain those maps as Best Buy, Amazon, Costco, or any other retailer changes their specs. No internal mapping software required.

Best for: brands that want retail EDI fully off their plate, including ongoing maintenance as compliance programs evolve.

Web EDI portal
No IT required

View POs, acknowledge orders, build shipments, print GS1-128 compliant labels, and generate ASNs and invoices — all from one browser-based interface, with no EDI software to install.

Best for: emerging brands or small wholesale teams that need to meet retailer requirements quickly without a dedicated EDI system.

Why brands switch to BOLD VAN

Your VAN shouldn't be the reason you're losing retail accounts

1

Three-way match failures get caught before auto-deductions do

Amazon, Costco, and Best Buy compare your PO, ASN, and invoice automatically. We validate all three against each other before the shipment leaves — not after an auto-deduction tells you something didn't match.

2

Fixed pricing through product launches and peak volume

Per-message VAN pricing spikes when a new product ships at scale or Q4 orders flood in. Our flat per-trading-partner rate means volume never changes what you pay.

3

New retail connections go live in 2–3 weeks

We handle setup, connectivity, mapping, and compliance testing directly with each retailer's EDI team. Your ops team doesn't need to manage the onboarding process.

4

One agreement for your entire retail network

Best Buy, Amazon, Costco, Walmart, Target — each has its own compliance ecosystem and chargeback program. We manage all of them under a single BOLD VAN agreement at one predictable monthly cost.

5

US-based support that knows electronics retail compliance

No offshore ticket queues. Our EDI team understands the compliance programs at Best Buy, Amazon Vendor Central, and Costco, and can resolve issues before they affect your scorecard or payment timing.

Every document your retail partners require. Handled.

From purchase orders and ASNs to application advice and inventory feeds — we support every EDI transaction type your retail accounts require, including Best Buy's mandatory 824 requirement and Amazon's Vendor Central compliance program.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from consumer electronics and appliance brands

What EDI documents do major electronics retailers require?
Most programs require the 850 Purchase Order, 855 PO Acknowledgment, 856 ASN, 810 Invoice, and 997 Functional Acknowledgment. Best Buy additionally mandates the 824 Application Advice before the first PO is cut. Amazon and Costco commonly require 846 Inventory Advice for replenishment forecasting. We handle all of them and maintain your maps when retailers change their specs.
What is a three-way match and why does it matter for electronics brands?
A three-way match is the automatic comparison retailers like Amazon, Costco, and Best Buy run between your purchase order, advance ship notice, and invoice. All three documents have to align exactly — matching item numbers, quantities, and prices — or payment is delayed and chargebacks are issued automatically. Because electronics and appliance unit values are high, even small discrepancies between these documents carry a significant dollar impact.
What are Best Buy's specific EDI requirements?
Best Buy requires EDI 850, 860, 810, 824, 856, and 997 all to be in production and tested before the first PO is cut. The 824 Application Advice is particularly notable — it's not required by most other retailers but is mandatory for Best Buy. All testing is coordinated directly with Best Buy's EDI team, and we manage that process on your behalf.
How does BOLD VAN pricing work?
You pay a fixed monthly rate based on the number of active trading partners — not per message or kilocharacter. Whether your accounts send 500 POs or 5,000 during a product launch or holiday peak, your cost stays the same. No surcharges, no volume overages.
Can BOLD VAN integrate with our ERP or WMS?
Yes. We integrate with NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics, Oracle, and most major ERP and WMS platforms. We also connect via flat files or API for custom or 3PL setups.
We're already working with another VAN. How does migration work?
We run a parallel pilot with one trading partner first so your current VAN stays live throughout the transition. Most migrations complete in 2–3 weeks with zero disruption to your retail partners or in-flight orders.
Do you support GS1-128 and SSCC-18 label compliance?
Yes. GS1-128 (UCC-128) label generation with SSCC-18 identifiers is included for brands on our Web EDI portal. For brands with ERP or WMS integration, we validate that label data flowing through your EDI 856 exactly matches your ASN data — the single most common cause of Costco and Amazon dock chargebacks.
